Alyce-1

Alyce Kincanon

Life Enrichment Director

From a young age, Alyce’s close and cherished relationship with her grandparents instilled in her the value of serving and loving others well. She fondly remembers volunteering with her grandparents to pick up their elderly church members who couldn’t drive, bringing them to church, and assisting each of them with anything they needed, both inside and outside their homes.

Later in life, her Grandma developed Alzheimer's. Alyce considered it a privilege to be there to help care for her. When it became necessary to place her Grandma in a memory care home, Alyce devoted her time to helping keep her Grandma and the other residents in the community busy with crafts, games, and cooking projects. As a result, she witnessed firsthand the power of engaging, meaningful activities and how they could transform the lives of those in memory care.

What started as a way to comfort her grandma became a newfound passion for Alyce, who said she rediscovered her love of seniors and wanted to pursue a career that would honor her grandmother’s memory.

Now, as Life Enrichment Director at Lumina, Alyce chooses compassion as her guiding core value. “Life can be so brutal. But we can find beauty and comfort in giving the gift of compassion to one another. Taking the time to listen, being intentional and thoughtful in little ways, can go a long way in improving the quality of someone’s day—or even their life,” she says.

Alyce lived in England for almost eight years and can still pull off a “pretty convincing” British accent. She loves to sing, is obsessed with Harry Potter, likes being silly and pulling pranks on everyone, and her perfect vacation would be lounging on a Caribbean beach.

A military spouse (husband, Franco) with three children and one pup, Alyce is a native of New Mexico who LOVES to cook New Mexican food. Other favorite pastimes are thrift shopping, upcycling furniture and décor, and movie marathons with the family.
